On 6 May 2013, the NATO Political Affairs and Security Policy Division organised a visit to NATO Headquarters for a group from the United Arab Emirates Command and Staff College, as part of NATO’s public diplomacy activities under the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI).

Topics discussed included NATO’s new Strategic Concept and NATO’s outreach to the Middle East and the Gulf region; NATO’s Reform and Command Structure; and NATO’s operations.

The UAE Command and Staff College, led by Brigadier General Al-Falasi, was visiting Belgium as part of a field study organised by the Belgian Ministry of Defense and the Office of the UAE Military Attaché in Brussels.
