They also discussed steps to improve capabilities and  interoperability within the Alliance under the Connected Forces Initiative (CFI) and how to further develop the Alliance’s relations with partners. The Deputy Secretary General also addressed the Polish Institute of International Affairs in Warsaw.

On Thursday, 28 February,  Ambassador Vershbow attended the meeting of Defence Ministers of the four Visegrad countries – Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia -  hosted by Minister of Defence Tomasz Siemoniak in the city of Gdansk.  During the meeting, they discussed cooperation under Smart Defence and the Connected Forces Initiative, missile defence and progress in Afghanistan.
