Representatives of NATO member states and partner countries met on 7 December to discuss NATO’s contribution to efforts led by the United Nations to prevent corruption. The Building Integrity (BI) report highlights the ongoing practical efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, integrity and reduce the risk of corruption in the defence and security sector.

The 50 members of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, which met at the level of political advisors at NATO Headquarters, discussed the ongoing civilian and military efforts to promote good governance in the defence and security sector, making use of the BI Education and Training Plan agreed by the North Atlantic Council in August 2012.

Nations were briefed on a proposal for a BI contribution to support the Afghan National Security Forces and were also updated on plans for a BI Tailored Programme for South Eastern Europe to be launched on 13 December 2012.
