On 10 October, on the occasion of the Meeting of NATO Defence Ministers with non-NATO ISAF Contributing Nations, HE Mrs Anne-Grete Strom-Erichsen, Defence Minister of Norway, announced the opening of the “Centre for Integrity in the Defence sector”.
The establishment of the Centre in Oslo, Norway, is a very important contribution to the overall NATO Building Integrity Programme and will strengthen the promotion of good governance, integrity, transparency and accountability in the defence sector. In particular, the Centre will further assist Norway to implement policies and priorities in the Building Integrity area, notably in southeastern Europe where Norway has a particular focus.
Under the supervision of Mr Bard B. Knudsen the Centre will be fully operational in January 2013.
Norway is one of the five nations leading the NATO Building Integrity together with Belgium, Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
