NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will address Afghanistan, partnerships and security cooperation during high-level talks at this year’s opening of United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Secretary General  will on Tuesday (25 September) attend the opening  of the UN General Assembly's ministerial session ahead of holding talks with world leaders, ministers, and the heads of other international organisations, including UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

NATO and the UN cooperate in many areas including crisis management, training, civil-emergency cooperation, disaster relief, mine action and promoting the needs of women and children in conflict situations.

In the margins of his visit to the UN, Mr. Fogh Rasmussen will also give a speech at the City College of New York and talk with students and faculty.
