The NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen visited the Belgian Air Force Base of Kleine Brogel on Thursday, 7 June at the invitation of the Belgian Minister of Defence Pieter De Crem. The Secretary General thanked all the service members of the air base for their significant role in NATO-led missions and operations, from the Balkans to the Baltics, from Afghanistan to Libya.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Belgian Armed Forces for their efforts in support of ISAF operations in Afghanistan and in our recent operations in Libya. I know that all Kleine Brogel F16 pilots have operated over Afghanistan and were amongst the first NATO forces over Libya. I also appreciate your contribution to Baltic air policing", the Secretary General said. He stressed that in every mission that Kleine Brogel pilots contribute to NATO, they excel and maintain the highest standards.

During the visit, the Secretary General commended Belgium and its armed forces for their professionalism and their strong commitment to NATO.
