The third meeting of the Independent Scientific Evaluation Group (ISEG) has been held between 7 and 9 May at NATO HQ in Brussels.
Some ISEG members who were present at the meeting have previously served on the various advisory panels in place before the re-structuring of the SPS programme led to the creation of this single, multi-disciplinary group. Several other members attending for the first time have been newly appointed as a result of nomination by their national authorities in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey and the USA.
During the three-day meeting, the ISEG reviewed and evaluated proposals for SPS multi-year projects, workshops and training. Following its deliberations, a set of SPS activities has been recommended for approval by the Political and Partnerships’ Committee.
The strength and integrity of the SPS programme lies very much in the peer review of its applications, and draws heavily on the high degree of expertise and professionalism embodied by the members of the ISEG, whose crucial role is gratefully acknowledged by NATO.
