The NATO Secretary General Mr Anders Fogh Rasmussen welcomed the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mr Jacob Kellenberger at NATO Headquarters on 20 March 2012 for an exchange of views on a range of issues, including the NATO-led operation in Afghanistan and the recent conflict in Libya

Their meeting was part of regular consultations between the two organizations.

Mr Rasmussen highlighted the active and positive role played by the ICRC in ensuring that humanitarian aid reached those in need of assistance. He particularly thanked Mr Kellenberger for his tireless efforts to respond to the humanitarian needs of people affected by armed conflicts.
