A new depository library for NATO publications has opened in the Anna Lindh Library in Stockholm, Sweden. The “NATO Corner” is the result of an initiative by the Swedish Defence College and the Anna Lindh Library, in collaboration with the NATO Multimedia Library in Brussels, Belgium. It is the only NATO depository library in the nordic region and the first of its kind to be set up in a western partner country of NATO.

The depository library will provide print and electronic resources for students, instructors, and researchers at the Swedish Defence College as well as for the general public. This material will also be made available to employees of the Swedish armed forces, the military's research institute (FOI), and the Swedish Defence Material Administration.

This cooperative project will also include an exchange of library services, such as interlibrary loans of books and articles, as well as a collection of NATO material, multimedia and a search station connected to NATO's website. The library will also provide search help for visitors interested in using NATO's electronic resources. The goal of this collaboration is to make NATO-related material visible and accessible in the biggest security-related library in northen Europe.

The depository library was inaugurated on 8 March 2012 by HE Veronika Wand-Danielsson, Ambassador of Sweden to NATO, the Rector of the Swedish Defence College, Mr Romulo Enmark and Mr Michel Duray, Head of the Partnerships Section in NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division. Ambassador Wand-Danielsson said the initiative, “…represents a concrete manifestation of the strong partnership ties that exist between NATO and Sweden”.

After the inauguration, in a keynote speech on ”NATO partnerships” at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, Mr Duray said, "Sweden is and continues to be a key partner nation, which actively contributes to many NATO operations and missions”.
