On 22 September 2011, the NATO Political Affairs and Security Policy Division organised a visit to NATO Headquarters for a group of young leaders from the Middle East and North Africa, who were visiting Brussels as part of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Fellowship Programme.

Topics discussed include NATO’s transformation and outreach to the Mediterranean and the Middle East region; its operation in Libya; and its current agenda.

The group met with Mr. Mihai Carp, Deputy Head of the Operations Section A in the Operations Division, Ms. Stephanie Siklossy, Political Officer from the Mediterranean Dialogue and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative Countries Section in NATO Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, and Political Counsellors from the delegations of Portugal and the United Kingdom to NATO, Mr. Mario de Brito Fernandes and Ms. Sammi Hope.
