General John R. Allen, Commander of NATO and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops in Afghanistan attended a sale of artwork by students from Marefat High School in Kabul held at ISAF Headquarters on 16 September.
General Allen personally selected a painting from more than 100 original works of art. It will be displayed at ISAF Headquarters. All proceeds from the sale were for the benefit of the students.
Aziz Royesh, a member of the school board of trustees and civic education teacher thanked General Allen for his attendance and support.
Founded in 1994 in Rawalpindi-Pakistan, Marefat High School is a non-government, non-profit, tax-exempt institution led by a community board of trustees. There are 164 teachers and administrative staff and 2,650 students of which approximately 43 percent are girls.
