The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mr. Kostyantyn Gryshchenko, visited NATO headquarters on Monday, 18 July and met with the Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen. During the meeting, the Secretary General reconfirmed that NATO remained committed to cooperation with Ukraine and to assisting Ukraine in its reforms.

The Secretary General underlined the importance of implementing the Annual National Programme (ANP) of Ukraine, including in the area of democracy and rule of law.

Secretary General Rasmussen and Minister Gryshchenko welcomed the steady pace of high-level dialogue and expressed their interest in further developing practical cooperation between Ukraine and the Alliance. “NATO and Ukraine have good projects to work on and it is important that our cooperation develops in new areas”, the Secretary General said. And he added: “The Annual National Programme remains essential, and I rely on your able chairmanship of the new Commission on Ukraine’s Cooperation with NATO to develop it in a timely manner”.

The Secretary General also thanked Foreign Minister Gryshchenko for Ukraine’s valuable participation in NATO-led operations and encouraged Ukraine to continue this commitment.
