Minister of Defence Vitalie Marinuta and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Popov of Moldova visited the NATO Headquarters on Wednesday, 13 July and met with the NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

They also addressed the North Atlantic Council. During the meeting, NATO Allies reiterated the Alliance’s support for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, commended Moldova’s implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan with NATO (IPAP) and the progress achieved in important reforms.

"Reform is never easy and our guests today face a challenging set of circumstances", the Secretary General said. "But this situation also presents an opportunity. Reform is in Moldova's interest."

The Republic of Moldova agreed to an IPAP in  August 2010.
