On 23 and 24 June 2010, the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised a visit to NATO Headquarters for high level opinion leaders from the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), Israel.

Topics discussed included NATO’s transformation and outreach to the Mediterranean and the Middle East; the Alliance’s new Strategic Concept; military cooperation under the Mediterranean Dialogue; the fight against terrorism; current operations; and relations with Russia.

The delegation met, among others high level IS and IMS officials, with the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Adm. Giampaolo Di Paola, with the Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Mr. Jean-François Bureau, and with the Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment Mr. Peter C.W. Flory.

The distinguished participants also had discussions with several NATO Permanent Representatives, including H.E. Amb. Linas Linkevicius (Lithuania), H.E. Amb. Manuel Tomás Fernandes Pereira (Portugal), H.E. Amb. Stefano Stefanini (Italy), H.E. Amb. Robert McRae (Canada), H.E. Amb. Ivo Daalder (United States), H.E. Amb. Martin Povejšil (Czech Republic) and H.E. Amb. Martin Erdmann (Germany).
