On 29 April, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen met in Tirana with the Albanian President, Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament, and Foreign and Defence Ministers. He congratulated all his interlocutors on Albania's first year as a NATO member, during which it has fully established itself, politically and militarily, in the Alliance.

They discussed a number of issues, including Afghanistan, on which the Secretary General congratulated Albania for its contribution and expressed the hope that Albania could also consider sending more trainers to the mission.

Finally, they also discussed regional issues, including progress in Kosovo and the growing Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans.
