On 25 and 26 March 2010 the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised a visit to NATO Headquarters of members of the Egyptian Scientific Community.

Topics discussed included NATO’s transformation and outreach to the Mediterranean and the Middle East region; its military cooperation under the Mediterranean Dialogue; its role in the fight against terrorism; NATO's  current operations and NATO-Egypt cooperation under the Science for Peace and Security Programme.

The Egyptian delegation met, among others, with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Mr. Jean-François Bureau, Permanent Representatives of Portugal and Norway to the North Atlantic Council H.E. Mr. Manuel Tomás Fernandes Pereira and H.E. Mr. Kim Traavik, the Head of the MD and ICI Countries Section in the NATO Public Diplomacy Division Mr. Nicola de Santis, the Head of the Science for Peace and Security Section in the NATO Public Diplomacy Division Dr. Deniz Beten and the NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Mr. Michael Stopford.
