On 8 April, the Atlantic Treaty Association will hold its annual spring conference in Toronto, hosted by the Atlantic Council of Canada. The event entitled “Minimizing Conflict in the Race for Natural Resources: Securing Economic Stability in the 21st Century” will discuss energy security, the importance of minerals, and identifying global resource needs and security issues.
A keynote address will also focus on new challenges faced by Canada’s Navy, and the event’s summation will look at implications for NATO’s new Strategic Concept – a document that, once agreed by Allies, will guide the Alliance’s future activities.
The Atlantic Treaty Association works through discussion and political channels to support the values set forth in the North Atlantic Treaty: freedom, liberty, peace, security and the rule of law. It acts as a forum for debate where member associations can realize common interests and democratic goals in the ever-changing security environment of the 21st century.
