On 23 March, the North Atlantic Council, led by Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen visited Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Council met with the country's Presidency, the Chairman and members of the Council of Ministers, and with political leaders of the governing coalition.

The Council confirmed NATO's intention to invite the country to join the Membership Action Plan, once sufficient progress has been made, and they shared views with their interlocutors on reform efforts in many areas. They also thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for its contribution to the ISAF mission.

Finally, they met with the High Representative and EU Special Representative (HR/EUSR) for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Valentin Inzko, with the Commander EUFOR, Major General Bernhard Bair, and with the Commander of NATO HQ Sarajevo, Brigadier General John W. Bullard Jr., to assess the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
