On 16 and 17 February 2010, the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised a visit to NATO Headquarters of high level policy makers from Egypt.

Topics discussed include NATO’s transformation and outreach to the Mediterranean and the Middle East region; its military cooperation under the Mediterranean Dialogue; its role in the fight against terrorism, it’s current military operations; its relations with Russia; scientific cooperation in NATO and in partner countries; civil emergency planning; chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence; and the NATO training cooperation initiative.

The Egyptian officials met, among others, with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Mr. Jean-François Bureau; Permanent Representatives of Greece and France to the North Atlantic Council H.E. Ambassador Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos and H.E. Ambassador Pascale Andréani; and NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary Generals Ambassadors Maurits Jochems and Lawrence Rossin.
