NATO and Qatar discuss NATO's new Strategic Concept

The Deputy Secretary General of NATO H.E. Amb. Claudio Bisogniero travelled to Qatar on 8 and 9 February 2010, where he delivered the keynote address at the workshop on "Cooperation in the Framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative”.
This event, co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the NATO Public Diplomacy Division, brought together in Doha opinion leaders, senior scholars and officials from countries participating in the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative and in the Mediterranean Dialogue.
Distinguished speakers at the workshop also included the Permanent Representatives of Italy and of the Netherlands to the North Atlantic Council, H.E. Amb. Stefano Stefanini and H.E. Amb Frank Majoor.
During the visit to Qatar the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, H.E. Amb. Claudio Bisogniero held bilateral meetings in Doha with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani and the Assistant Foreign Minister for Follow Up Affairs, H.E. Mohammed Bin Abdullah Bin Mutib Al Rumaihi.
The Deputy Secretary General and his accompanying delegation also visited the Industrial City of Ras Laffan and he held talks with Qatar Petroleum officials on the security implications of energy.
