On 2-4 December 2009, the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised a three-day press tour at NATO Headquarters for journalists from the main media organisations in the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative countries, on the occasion of NATO Foreign Ministerial Meetings.

During their visit to NATO Headquarters, the journalists participated in a press conference by the NATO Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

The delegation also met with Mr. Jean-François Bureau, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy; Maj. Gen. Georges Lebel, Assistant Director in the Cooperation and Regional Security Division, International Military Staff; H.E. Amb. Maurits Jochems; Deputy Assistant Secretary General for operations; Mr. Nicola de Santis, Head of Mediterranean Dialogue and Istanbul Cooperation Ininitiative Countries Section, Public Diplomacy Division; Ms. Carmen Romero, Deputy Spokesperson and Head of Press and Media, Public Diplomacy Division; and Dr. Petr Lunak, Information Officer for Outreach Countries, Public Diplomacy Division.

The topics covered during the briefings included the agenda of the NATO Ministerial meetings, NATO’s transformation and the outreach to the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Middle East, NATO’s Military cooperation under the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, NATO’s relations with Russia and NATO’s operations.

The journalists covered the meetings of NATO Foreign Ministers, which took place on 3-4 December.
