NATO ships rotate in counter-piracy mission

NATO’s Standing Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) has taken over command of NATO’s counter-piracy mission Ocean Shield from NATO’s other Standing Maritime Group 2 on Monday 9 November 2009.
SNMG2 has been operating in and near the Gulf of Aden for the last five months and contributed significantly to reducing the number of successful hijackings in the region.
