On 20 October, the Director of the NATO Standardization Agency, Admiral Juan A. Moreno, hosted a celebration of World Standards Day. Representatives from NATO, its member countries and the civilian standardization community, whose work in the area of standardization contributes towards interoperability in the military arena, were invited to take part.

World Standards Day is celebrated each year to pay tribute to the efforts of thousands of experts worldwide, who collaborate to develop international standards that facilitate trade, spread knowledge and disseminate technological advances.  The theme for this year, which marks the 40th celebration of the event, is “Tackling Climate Change through Standards”.
