Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has started his trip to the Baltic states with a visit to Estonia. He held talks with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet and Defence Minister Jaak Aaviksoo.

The Secretary General discussed key items on NATO’s agenda, including NATO's engagement in Afghanistan. In this context, he praised Estonia's contribution, which per capita is one of the highest in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

Other items discussed included an update of NATO’s new Strategic Concept as well as the Alliance's air policing mission in the region, which is an important example of Allied solidarity in action.
