NATO Secretary General Mr Anders Fogh Rasmussen continued his trip to the region meeting in Latvia with President Zatlers, as well as Foreign Minister Riekstins and Defence Minister Liegis.
During a press conference at the Riga castle, the Secretary General expressed appreciation for Latvia’s strong commitment to NATO and significant contribution to NATO‘s operations. He stressed that collective defence is and will remain in the future a core task of NATO.
Talks in Riga focused on operations, allied collective security arrangements, relations with Russia and other partners and defence spending priorities.
