A NATO medical conference to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 30 September to 2 October, will provide the opportunity for member nations and partners to exchange ideas and lessons learned in providing medical support to NATO operations.

The conference, which is expected to attract a wide range of participants from the scientific, medical, technical and educational fields, will focus on the increasing importance of civil-military relationship and cooperation in operational theatres.

The scientific part of the programme will address future medical techniques, such as mass casualties and disaster medicine, handling blood in the field, managing the chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threat and other medical issues.

The conference is open to all NATO and partner countries. It is organized by NATO’s Joint Medical Committee and hosted by the Government of Portugal. More information and registration forms are available online at: http://www.natomedicalconference2009.gov.pt/
