On August 1st 2009, Major General (ret) Antonios CHATZIDAKIS of Greece took up the post of General Manager at NAMSA, the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency based in Capellen, Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, to succeed Mr Karl-Heinz MÜNZNER from Germany.

NAMSA is NATO’s major Logistics Agency, and an active player in NATO’s transformation. It provides logistics support to Alliance operations as well as for a variety of weapon systems owned by NATO and its member nations. NAMSA operates on a no profit no loss principle, the value of services provided in 2008 amounted to € 1.1 billion.

Antonios CHATZIDAKIS will handle a challenging agenda, including the logistic support to NATO’s missions, especially in Afghanistan.

He has a strong NATO background, serving in several Allied positions in peacetime and on operations from the tactical to the strategic level.

His previous assignment was at NATO HQ in Brussels where he directed the Logistics Armaments and Resources Division of the International Military Staff. In that capacity he managed on behalf of the NATO Military Committee a number of important initiatives and he has chaired or played a key role in a number of senior committees such as the Senior NATO Logisticians Conference (SNLC), the Senior Resource Board (SRB), the NATO Defense Manpower Committee (NDMC), the Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD) and the NATO Committee for Standardization (NCS).

He holds a degree in civil engineering, and a postgraduate degree in diplomacy and strategy.
