NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, all the Permanent Representatives of the North Atlantic Council (NAC) as well as the Chairman and members of the Military Committee (MC) were hosted by Admiral James Stavridis, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), and the Spanish Admiral of the Fleet, Admiral Munoz-Delgado at the bi-annual NAC-MC Sea Day held in the Spanish port city of Rota.

NATO’s Standing Maritime Group One (SNMG1) vessels were in port to provide the platforms from which the participants observed naval manoeuvres. In addition,counter-piracy briefings and demonstrations were given. At sea, the American aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower delivered an impressive air power demonstration.
