On Tuesday 30 June, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer made a farewell visit to Spain. He was received by H.M. the King Juan Carlos I, and had meetings with the President of the government, José Luis Zapatero and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Angel Moratinos.

They discussed various topics on the NATO agenda, focusing on NATO’s operations and missions, NATO’s partnerships including the NATO-Russia Council, and the launch of the Alliance’s debate on a new Strategic Concept.
