The NATO Secretary General travelled to Bucharest on 24 April and had meetings with President Traian Basescu, with Minister of Foreign Affairs Cristian Diaconescu and with Minister of Defence Mihai Stanisoara.

They discussed how to take forward the range of issues tackled at the Alliance's Summit meeting in Strasbourg and Kehl. The Secretary General was also awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa title of the Law School of the University of Bucharest.
