NATO and Ukraine sign an agreement on transit to Afghanistan

On 2nd April 2009, an Agreement was signed between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and NATO to allow for transit of goods, through the territory of the Republic of Ukraine, in support of the ISAF Operation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The Exchange of Letters has been signed by the Head of Mission of Ukraine to NATO, on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Secretary General on behalf of the Alliance.
This Agreement is a key step in facilitating land transit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan through the so-called Northern route.
