Before the start of the informal meeting of Defence Ministers the Secretary General, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, opened a visual exhibition about NATO, prepared by the Public Diplomacy Division.

During a short ceremony the Secretary General was joined by Professor Jacek Purchla, Director of the International Culture Centre hosting the exhibition, as well as Deputy Mayor of Krakow, Mr. Stachowiak.

In the presence of Mrs. Jeannine de Hoop Scheffer, Mrs. Anna Klich and Mr. Jean-Francois Bureau, Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, the Secretary General thanked the city authorities for providing a prestigious venue at the Main Market Square. "It is very important to explain what the NATO of today is about to a wider audience", he said

The exhibition involves photographs and videos presenting daily activities and missions of the Alliance, and will be open to the general public until 27 February.
