In collaboration with NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division, the Spanish International Affairs and Foreign Policy Institute (INCIPE) organized a lecture on “The future of Afghanistan: A comprehensive solution”. The event took place in Madrid on 5 February.

Mr. Mihai P. Carp, Deputy Head of the Crisis Management Policy Section - NATO Operations Division, focused his presentation on NATO's role in Afghanistan and the key challenges ahead, taking into consideration the 2009 Presidential Elections.

After the presentation some thirty specialists among which military officers, diplomats of various NATO countries, journalists, senior academicians and representatives of five Spanish think tanks, as well as other experts, participated in an intensive debate.

This lecture was the first in a series of activities organized by INCIPE in Spain on the occasion of the Alliance's 60th Anniversary.
