On 11 and 12 December 2008, the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organized a visit to NATO Headquarters of policy-makers from Morocco.

Topics discussed included the Alliance’s transformation, NATO’s cooperative activities with Morocco under the Mediterranean Dialogue, current NATO political issues, NATO’s operations, NATO’s Media Operations for Afghanistan, and cooperation in science and the environment.

The delegation, which included high-level officials from the main ministries and departments dealing with NATO, met among other NATO officials with Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, Chairman of the North Atlantic Military Committee, with the Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Mr. Jean-François Bureau, with the Assistant Secretary General for Operations Mr. Martin Howard and with Ambassador Tacan İldem, Permanent Representative of Turkey on the North Atlantic Council, which acts as NATO’s contact point embassy for Morocco.
