On 1-3 December 2008 the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised a three-day press tour at NATO Headquarters for journalists from the main media organisations in the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative countries, including from invited countries Oman and Saudi Arabia.

During the visit at the NATO Headquarters these journalists met with high level NATO officials including, among others, the NATO Deputy Secretary General, H.E. Claudio Bisogniero; H.E. Ambassador Stefano Stefanini, Permanent Representative of Italy on the North Atlantic Council; H.E. Ambassador Kurt Volker, Permanent Representative of the United States on the North Atlantic Council; Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, Chairman of the Military Committee and the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy; Mr. Jean-François Bureau.

The topics covered during the briefings included the agenda of the NATO Ministerial meetings, NATO’s transformation and the outreach to the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Middle East, NATO’s Military cooperation under the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, and NATO’s operations.

The journalists covered the meetings of the Foreign Ministers of NATO, Mediterranean Dialogue and Partner countries, which took place at NATO Headquarters on 2-3 December.
