The NATO-Georgia Commission (NGC) met today for the first time at Ministerial level since it was created. During the meeting, Defence Ministers talked about the Alliance’s assistance to Georgia in recovering from the recent conflict.
Ministers of NATO countries discussed with their Georgian counterpart the coordination of assistance in areas such as defence and security cooperation, security sector reform and airspace management.
Finally, NATO Ministers reiterated the Alliance’s support for Georgia's territorial integrity and commitment to continue supervising the process set in hand at the Bucharest Summit with view to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
The NATO-Georgia Commission was established in September 2008 during a visit of the North Atlantic Council to Tbilisi and provides an important additional framework for deepening political dialogue and practical cooperation with Georgia.
