On Thursday, 11 September 2008, the North Atlantic Council (NAC) held a meeting with Ambassador Beshidze of Georgia. This session followed an ambassadorial meeting of NATO-Georgia held at NATO HQ on 12 August.

Ambassadors exchanged views on the current developments and security situation in Georgia. Allies stressed a continuous will to provide a wide-ranging assistance to Georgia, including in the humanitarian field.

They also discussed preparations for the upcoming NAC visit to Georgia (15-16 September). It is expected that during this visit Allies and Georgia will convene an inaugural session of the NATO-Georgia Commission as envisaged by the decision of the Allied ministers of foreign affairs on 19 August.
