The Romanian President Traian Basescu visited the NATO Headquarters and the NATO Secretary General thanked him for his country's active participation in NATO’s operations in Afghanistan and in Kosovo.
The Secretary General and President Basescu discussed a range of issues that the Alliance will be taking forward in the months to come, including NATO enlargement, the stabilisation of the Western Balkans and the relations between NATO and the European Union.
The NATO Secretary General also thanked President Basescu for the efforts of his country in the organisation of the Bucharest Summit earlier this year.
