On 15 April 2008 the inaugural NATO and International Partners' Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Defence Table-Top Exercise (TTX) took place at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.
It was an important learning opportunity for NATO and many of its international partners to discuss the subject of CBRN defence. NATO’s international partners had the opportunity to explore what NATO could do to assist them in the area of CBRN defence; just as importantly, NATO could examine how to cooperate more closely with its partners and friends from across the globe in this important field. NATO’s policy of Outreach through partnerships, dialogue, and cooperation is an essential part of its purpose and tasks.
The Exercise was chaired by NATO’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Centre (WMDC) and was initiated by NATO’s Senior Defence Group on Proliferation (DGP), a senior-level Group with representatives from Allied capitals responsible for providing policy guidance on the Alliance’s defence-related response to WMD risks and threats.
