NATO Public Diplomacy Division (PDD) brought together students from various universities to discuss NATO’s engagement in Afghanistan and Kosovo via video teleconference (VTC) on 19 March 2008.

The one-day event, titled Youth Perspective on NATO’s Role in Kosovo and Afghanistan included more than 60 students studying at universities in Europe, the United States and Afghanistan.

The event was organized by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division to encourage dialogue between students and provide an opportunity for NATO officials to listen to youth perspectives on NATO’s top priorities.

The participating universities included, the American University of Afghanistan, the University of Bayonne, the University of California Los Angeles and the Faculty of political science of Pisa University.

The VTC was moderated by Monique Tuffelli-Pierre, Head of the NATO Outreach Countries Section, PDD and Antonella Cerasino, Head of the NATO Countries Section, PDD. The event ended with an exchange of views between the students and NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero.
