The Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Eva Biaudet visited NATO Headquarters on 12 March 2008.

Eva Biaudet addressed the EAPC Ambassadors and informed them on the OSCE’s work on combating trafficking in human beings. She also met with NATO Senior Coordinator on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Ambassador Jiri Sedivy, and exchanged information and views on the implementation of the relevant policies on combating trafficking in human beings.

The OSCE plays an active role in the fight against trafficking in human beings. The Office headed by Eva Biaudet supports the development and implementation of anti-trafficking policies in OSCE participating states.

NATO has a policy on combating human trafficking, which was first endorsed by Allied leaders at the Istanbul Summit in June 2004 and is being strengthened following a comprehensive review in 2007.

NATO cooperates with other international organizations such as OSCE, which have a broader mandate and experience on combating trafficking in human beings.
