Serge Brammertz, the new prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), met with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer on 17 January 2008.
Mr. Brammertz recently replaced former ICTY prosecutor Carla Del Ponte.
The ICTY is a body of the United Nations established in 1993 to prosecute serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of the former Yugoslavia since 1991. The tribunal is an ad-hoc court and is located in The Hague in the Netherlands.
