On 13 December 2007, the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised a visit to NATO HQ of high-level members from the two chambers of the Algerian Parliament, the Nation’s Council and the National Popular Assembly. The delegation was led by the President of the National Defence Commission Mr. Mustapha Cheloufi.

Briefings delivered by NATO officials covered the Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI), NATO operations, military cooperation under the Mediterranean Dialogue and the future of NATO.

The delegation also received briefings from the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Jean-François Bureau, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Spain on the North Atlantic Council Min.Plen. Pablo Zaldívar Miquelarena, and the Assistant Director for Cooperation and Regional Security in the International Military Staff Gen. Georges Lebel.
