The President of Croatia, Mr. Stjepan Mesic visited the NATO Headquarters and met with the Secretary General. They discussed Croatia’s reform efforts in the context of the Membership Action Plan.

The Secretary General said that NATO recognizes the work done by Croatia in pursuing far-reaching political, economic and military reforms.  He said that NATO will continue to provide all the practical support it can for the Croatia’s restructuring and reform programme, with an eye to the upcoming Summit in Bucharest.

The Secretary General thanked Croatia’s contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), which shows that Croatia has become a security provider.

They also discussed the regional situation, in particular Kosovo, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The Secretary General thanked Croatia for its role as a stabilizing influence in its region.
