Senior Academics from the United Arab Emirates visit NATO HQ

On 13 November 2007, the NATO Public Diplomacy Division organised, in the context of the public diplomacy activities for the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, a visit to NATO Headquarters of senior academics from the United Arab Emirates University.
he academics met with the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Mr. Jean-François Bureau, the NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Regional, Economic and Security Affairs from the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, Ms. Aurélia Bouchez and other high-level NATO officials. They also met with an official from the German Delegation to NATO, which serves as the NATO Contact Point in the United Arab Emirates.
The topics discussed included: NATO transformation, NATO’s current operations, NATO relations with Russia and Ukraine, the Mediterranean Dialogue, the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) and military cooperation within the ICI.
