The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Gela Bezhuashvili, visited NATO Headquarters on Tuesday 4 September 2007 and met with the Secretary General, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
The Secretary General welcomed Georgia's intention to substantially increase its contribution to the NATO-ISAF mission in Afghanistan, which illustrates Goergia's intention to contribute to international security.
In that regard, the Secretary General also congratulated the Georgian Government on progress in the reform efforts set out in its Individual Partnership Action Plan.
Finally, they discussed regional security issues, including Georgia's relations with Russia.
