The Prime Minister of Croatia, Ivo Sanader, visited NATO Headquarters on 6 June for a meeting with the North Atlantic Council, the Alliance’s principal decision-making body.

During the meeting, NATO Ambassadors praised Croatia's impressive record on defence and institutional reforms and encouraged Croatia to continue its efforts on the path to NATO membership.

They also thanked Croatia for its contribution to NATO's ISAF operation in Afghanistan.

The Ambassadors welcomed the recent rise in public support for NATO membership, something to which Alliance countries attach importance.

The Prime Minister also had a bilateral meeting with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
