On 5 and 6 June 2007, the NATO Public Diplomacy Division and the Ministry of Information of the Kingdom of Bahrain co-organized a conference on “Media in a Changing World: Perspectives from GCC and NATO”, taking place in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom.

The Minister of Information of Bahrain, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Ghaffar, and the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Jean Fournet, opened the conference.

Participants to the conference included academics, elected and government officials, as well as civil society and diplomatic representatives from the Kingdom of Bahrain and other countries taking part in NATO’s Istanbul Cooperation Initiative.

During his visit to Bahrain, Mr. Fournet met for bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.E. Khalifa ibn Salman Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nizar Al Baharna, and with the Minister of Information, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Ghaffar.
