On 10 May, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer inaugurated the NATO Office of Resources (NOR), a new independent office within NATO’s international staff.

This office was created with effect on 1 May 2007, following a decision by the North Atlantic Council on 14 February 2007 to reorganise activities in support of the Senior Resource Board, the Infrastructure Committee and the Civil and Military Budget Committees.

Its mission is to support the Secretary General, the Council, the Resource Committees, and other bodies as required over the full spectrum of military common-funded resource activities.

The NOR brings together staff from the Budget Committees Support Section (previously part of the Office of the Financial Controller), and the Resource Policy Coordination Section and the Security Investment Directorate (both previously part of the Defence Investment Division).
