The NATO information centre was officially opened on the 12 March 2007 in Yerevan, Armenia.

The Armenian Foreign Minister, Vartan Oskanian, and the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Jean Fournet, participated in the ceremony. The event was part of a series of activities organised in the framework of the NATO week held on 12 -15 March.

The centre aims at providing information on NATO and Partnership issues to the wider public in Armenia in order to enhance public understanding of the Alliance and Euro-Atlantic structures.

At the ceremony, the Armenian Foreign Minister said ‘‘The establishment of such a centre is one of the items of Armenia’s Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) with NATO, and I am very pleased that we achieved this during the first year of its implementation. It is a very significant step, as through the centre, together with NATO, we will be providing true information on the Alliance, its activities and cooperation with Armenia.’’
